NYC restaurant ordinance: No chopsticks for non-Asians

NEW YORK CITY – New York City is proposing a new city ordinance for restaurants:  Do not offer chopsticks to non-Asian customers.

“We want our city to respect all ethnic cultures and be sensitive enough to not offend them.  If you are not Asian, you have no business using chopsticks.  It is culturally inappropriate, especially if you are white.  We will be looking at passing an ordinance to enforce this issue.  New York City will be a shining example of how ethnic cultures should be respected,” said New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio in a press conference yesterday.

The city council will vote on this measure later this year.
